Meghan Markle has faced criticism over reports that she is nervous about taking Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to and from school now that the Sussexes have returned to Britain.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are approaching their first full week back in the UK after arriving with their two children on August 26. The family is understood to be staying in a rented, non-royal property outside London, although the exact location has not been disclosed.

The reported concern over the school run has quickly become a talking point, particularly because Meghan had previously spoken about the issue during her 2022 interview with The Cut.

During the interview with journalist Allison P. Davis, Meghan discussed the prospect of raising Archie in the UK.

At the time, the Sussexes had already relocated to California, but Meghan explained that one of her concerns about living in Britain was whether she would be able to take her son to school without being pursued by paparazzi.

Now that Archie and Lilibet are reportedly preparing to begin school in the UK this month, those earlier comments have resurfaced.

The issue has prompted criticism from royal expert Robert Jobson, who dismissed Meghan’s reported concern during an appearance on TalkTV.

Royal expert calls the concern “nonsense”

Jobson argued that the situation would not necessarily involve the level of paparazzi attention Meghan appears to fear.

“This is nonsense because there are self-governing rules here, and there’s no way that there could be loads of paparazzi there,” he said.

He suggested that some of Meghan’s concerns could stem from Harry’s own childhood experiences with the press.

Jobson also questioned the couple’s decision to highlight the school run as a concern, pointing out that Harry would already have been aware of the security situation surrounding the family before their return to Britain.

He further noted that Prince William and Princess Catherine are not routinely surrounded by paparazzi when taking their three children to school. The exception, he said, is the planned photography associated with a child’s first day at school.

Harry and Meghan arrived at Birmingham Airport on August 26 with Archie and Lilibet, marking a significant change for the children as they begin spending more time in Britain.

The precise location of the family’s new home remains private.

Reports have suggested that the Sussexes are currently placing greater emphasis on helping their children adjust to their new surroundings before focusing fully on their schooling.

According to the New York Post, the couple’s priority is creating “a nurturing atmosphere” for Archie and Lilibet as they settle into their new life.

The children are expected to start school in the UK this month, although details surrounding their education and daily routine remain closely guarded.
