Princess Charlotte’s New Sporting Talent Has a Special Connection to Kate Middleton
Princess Charlotte is reportedly taking her passion for sport to a new level, with the young royal now playing competitive netball on a team that travels across England.
The 11-year-old daughter of Prince William and Princess Kate has reportedly joined an exclusive out-of-school netball team that competes against strong opponents around the country.

According to a report cited by the Daily Mail, Charlotte’s team plays at a high level, meaning William and Kate have taken on the familiar role of sports parents—making early starts, travelling long distances and supporting their daughter from the sidelines.
One source said the Waleses are “very hands-on” with Charlotte’s sporting activities, with parents from opposing teams even wondering whether they might see the future King and Queen at matches.
Kate helps Charlotte with her shooting
Charlotte’s growing commitment to netball has also created a special connection with her mother.
Kate, who has long been passionate about team sports, is reportedly helping Charlotte practise her shooting technique at home.
The Princess of Wales has consistently encouraged her children to stay active, and Charlotte appears to have inherited much of her mother’s enthusiasm for competitive sport.
Charlotte is involved in several sports
Netball is far from Charlotte’s only sporting interest.
Prince William has previously revealed that she participates in 400-metre running and hurdles, while she also enjoys gymnastics and ballet. She has additionally shown an interest in football and rugby.
Her love of gymnastics was particularly noticeable during the family’s visit to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Charlotte received a signed Team Wales leotard from gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper and spoke about gymnastics alongside her parents.
She has even shown a playful competitive streak with her younger brother, Prince Louis, particularly when it comes to gymnastics.
Following in Kate’s footsteps
Charlotte’s broad sporting interests have naturally drawn comparisons with Kate, who has been one of the Royal Family’s strongest advocates for physical activity.
Kate is patron of both the Rugby Football Union and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and has regularly spoken about the importance of children enjoying sport.
The Wales children have each developed their own sporting personalities. Prince George is interested in football, rugby and hockey, while Louis enjoys rugby, football and cricket.
Charlotte, however, appears to be the family’s all-rounder—combining competitive netball with running, gymnastics, ballet and other activities. And with Kate helping her practise at home, her latest sporting passion may become one of the strongest mother-daughter connections in the Wales household.
