Sky is set to make its acclaimed TV series Chernobyl available to watch for free for the very first time.
The historical drama first aired in 2019, depicting the catastrophic Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986, in which the Soviet town’s reactor exploded, triggering a fire that released enormous quantities of radiation into the surrounding atmosphere, reports the Mirror.
The five-part series will broadcast nightly for free next week on Sky Mix to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the devastating tragedy.
Episodes will air from 20 April to 24 April, each at 9pm on the channel, which is 11 on Freeview, 123 on Virgin Media, and 158 on Sky Glass.

Chernobyl chronicles the initial reactor explosion and fire as plant workers desperately scrambled to avert a catastrophe.
The drama delves into the subsequent clean-up efforts, an attempted government cover-up, and the struggle to bring those responsible to justice.
Despite being a historical piece, Chernobyl masterfully weaves in elements of horror that will keep viewers gripped throughout.
Audiences have long celebrated Chernobyl, which dominated the BAFTA TV Awards in the UK and claimed numerous accolades at the Primetime Emmys in America.
The series holds an outstanding 95 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.3/10 rating on IMDb, alongside countless glowing reviews across both platforms.

One such review from an audience member on Rotten Tomatoes read: “The attention to detail is remarkable, from the 80s Soviet Union setting to the horrifying effects of radiation.
“Even though I’ve heard or read about this disaster countless times in the news and articles, watching it in live action creates an indescribable tension.”
They added: “The tragedy and disaster scenes were truly heart-wrenching. Since this is a true story, I’m rating it a 10/10 based on its making, cinematography, and storytelling.”
A second five-star review said: “The best mini series ever made. It’s like you were right there as a ghost of yourself, able to peer into every detail.”
A third explained, “This show was amazing. Probably the best re-creation of a historical event I have ever seen. The acting was beautiful; each actor played their role so well. It captured the true horror of Chernobyl and had an eerie feel the whole time.”
While a fourth viewer simply stated: “The true horror of a nuclear disaster [sic].”
Chernobyl garnered praise not only for its thorough research and historical accuracy, but also boasted an outstanding ensemble cast to convey such a pivotal story.
Amongst the stellar cast were The Crown’s Jared Harris, Hollywood star Stellan Skarsgård, acclaimed thespian and Oscar nominee Emily Watson, and the late Friday Night Dinner star Paul Ritter.
While other major stars assumed smaller parts, including Oscar winner Jessie Buckley, The Crown’s Mark Lewis Jones, The Terror’s Adam Nagaitis, Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan, Game of Thrones’ Donald Sumpter, amongst numerous others.
