The historical movie, Their Finest, is set in wartime London during the Second World War and follows former James Bond star Gemma Arterton as she transforms into Catrin Cole, a writer who unwittingly fights a lone battle against sexism in the British film industry.
It is 1940, and Catrin is brought on board to produce a morale-boosting propaganda film featuring aging actor Ambrose Hilliard, portrayed by Bill Nighy, despite his initial reservations.
Paired alongside fellow screenwriter Buckley (Sam Claflin), the trio embarks on a mission to create a film that would lift the nation’s spirits and capture the American imagination.
Their Finest is adapted from Lissa Evans’ novel Their Finest Hour and a Half, a romantic, witty, and deeply touching portrayal of a young woman discovering her path and her voice amidst the chaos of war, reports the Mirror.

Since its release seven years ago, Their Finest has earned an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a wealth of glowing reviews.
One admirer described the movie as “escapism”, adding: “There’s a sweet love story and some wonderful work by an array of British actors. My heavens, this is charming, rib-tickling escapism.”
A second remarked: “It feels inappropriate to be moved by a film about propaganda during an era of ‘alternative facts’. Yet I found my soul soothed by Their Finest.”
