There’s good news for fans of The Hardacres as series 2 is coming to screens very soon.
Channel 5 has announced that the beloved period drama will be returning this spring as the broadcaster shared some first-look images.
Inspired by the bestselling novels by CL Skelton, the six-part series stars the likes of Claire Cooper, Liam McMahon, Julie Graham, Adam Little, Shannon Lavelle and Zak Ford‑Williams.
The series follows a working-class Yorkshire family in the 1890s as they go from rags to riches with unexpected twists and turns along the way.
A synopsis for the upcoming series teases huge changes on the way, unexpected bonds and futures threatened.
It reads: “Series 2 finds the Hardacre family on the brink of transformation in 1895, as modernity sweeps into Hardacre Hall with electricity and shifting loyalties. Mary and Sam embrace wealth and opportunity, but their children begin forging identities that challenge expectations.

“Mary champions adult education for dock workers, while Sam expands the family business amid a looming recession, uncertain if Joe is ready to succeed him. Determined to prove himself, Joe’s impulsive choices threaten his future.
“Liza, recovering from romantic disappointment, is swept up by a chance encounter with a handsome stranger, while Harry’s plans to abandon school are transformed by an inspiring new tutor.”
The overview of what’s to come also teased Ma forming an unexpected bond. However, while some relationships blossom, others are strained.
It continues: “As tensions rise, Lady Imelda Hansen arrives at the Fitzherberts’ home with a dangerous agenda, forcing the Hardacres to unite or risk losing everything.”

Returning to the show will be Holly Sturton, Cathy Belton, Owen Roe, Ingrid Craigie, Sarah Agha and Taheen Modak.
However, there are some new faces joining for the second series as fans can expect to see the likes of Michele Dotrice, Niall McNamee and Edward Mitchell.
The series has been highly praised since it was released, with some comparing it to Downton Abbey.
