LAKE GENVA, Wis.— Two of the three children who died after a boat capsized on Lake Geneva over the Fourth of July weekend have been identified by their family.

The family has launched a GoFundMe in memory of 6-year-old Caleb Oswald and 7-year-old Abigail Oswald, who died after a boat capsized during severe weather on the lake. A third 10-year-old child who died in the accident has not yet been publicly identified.

“Caleb and Abigail were more than brother and sister—they were best friends. They filled our home with laughter, music, hugs, and endless love. They were deeply loved by their family, friends, teachers, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing them. Even in the face of this unimaginable tragedy, we hope Caleb and Abigail’s lives will continue to make a difference by helping other children for years to come. Knowing their legacy is bringing hope to other families will help bring some comfort to us as parents,” says the charity page.

Instead of flowers or gifts, the family is asking those who wish to support them to donate to the fundraiser. Proceeds will be given to a children’s charity in honor of Caleb and Abigail.

The children were among three who died after a boat capsized during a severe weather near Big Foot Beach State Park on July 3. Authorities said a rapidly moving storm created dangerous boating conditions, causing the vessel to overturn.

Seven people were rescued, but divers later located the sunken boat in about 32 feet of water with the three missing children inside. All three were pronounced dead.

School officials with Illinois’ Community Unity School District 200 previously confirmed that students from the district were among those killed and offered condolences to the families affected.
