A period drama that is perfect for Downton Abbey fans is available to stream free now.
Outrageous, which is about the aristocratic Mitford sisters and stars Bessie Carter, Isobel Jesper Jones, Joanna Vanderham and James Purefoy, can be watched on BBC iPlayer.
The 1930s-set series follows the siblings “who refused to play by the rules, their often-scandalous lives making headlines around the world”.
“The show explores how and why these women, unwilling to conform, were so ahead of their time – and what drove them to take their very different, complex and often dangerous paths,” a synopsis said. “A family saga like no other, this is the Mitfords as they really were: unapologetic, outrageous and utterly human.”
It first aired in 2025 and won over viewers, who have called it “outrageously good”.
“The acting and casting are superb, each sister is pitch-perfect, capturing their eccentricities and contradictions with warmth, sharpness and real emotional weight,” one person posted on IMDb.
“Even moments I thought I knew surprised me in performance. My only complaint is that we don’t have a second series yet. It’s brilliantly addictive, almost impossible not to binge in one go.”
“Oh my I’ll just be broken hearted if there is no seasons after this one,” said someone else, remarking on the “fantastic” acting.
Another called it “delicious”, as somebody else chimed in: “Brilliant – I wasn’t sure about it to start with but, by the end, I couldn’t wait for the next series, which there obviously will be.”

Someone else posted a message on Reddit saying they were “obsessed”. “THIS HAD ME GLUED!” exclaimed another impressed viewers. “I WORRIED ABOUT THESE GIRLS in spite of knowing I could look up the outcome! There HAS to be a season 2!!!!”
