Though the judges didn’t know what to expect from him, his voice blew everybody away!
Once we enter the working world, we realize just how important it is to make a good first impression.
No matter how skilled or brilliant we may be, thereās no way to share our abilities with other people unless weāre able to connect with them.
Although we can definitely work on our relationships and grow closer to one another over time, itās important to not do anything to scare people away from us at the outset so we have time to build those connections.
Needless to say, thatās just as true when it comes to auditioning for anything.
When contestant Andrea Faustini stepped into the room onĀ The X Factor UKĀ in 2014, the judges werenāt entirely sure what to expect.
For starters, Faustini walks in the room wearing a baggy black sweatshirt with a giant picture of a pug on it.
Needless to say, everybody is a little bit weirded out by it all. After that, Faustini reveals that heās originally from Rome, Italy and that he came on the show because it was the original version of the showāand the best one ever, he says.
Still, things only got stranger from there.
After that, judge Simon Cowell asks Faustini why he didnāt just appear on the Italian version ofĀ The X Factor.
By way of answering that question, Faustini pulls out a little Scary Spice doll he has in his pocket and says that he loves the Spice Girlsāespecially judge Mel B! Although this definitely helps to win her over, Cowell seems to be beside himself.
Finally, Faustini explains that heāll be singing āWhoās Been Loving Youā by the Jackson 5 for his audition. At this, all the judges raise their eyebrows a bitā¦ after all, itās not the easiest song in the world to sing.

After all that, Faustini takes a breath as the backing music to the track starts to play.
Just a moment later, Faustini lets out an incredibly soulful and earth-shaking first note that brings all of the judges to complete attention!
Even though he had a very eccentric way about him when he walked in the audition room, Faustini completely silenced any doubts or objections as soon as he opened his mouth! From the very first notes of the song, the judges compare their arms because they all have goosebumps.
As the song goes on, he manages to keep his passion and power consistent the whole time.
When itās finally over, the judges have no idea what to say!
After that, the judges give their feedbackāand they completely love him! As the judges say themselves, they learned once again just how important it is not to judge a book by its cover.
After all the judges have their say, Cowell is ready to weigh in. Finally, he says that even if Faustini is Italian, the show is open to all ethnicitiesāand that he could really be something special. After a quick round of voting, Faustini walks out of the room with four yeses from the judges!
