Romantic comedy enthusiasts captivated by Voicemails for Isabelle should discover this ‘superior’ Netflix offering.
The streaming platform unveiled Voicemails for Isabelle only last Friday (19 June), yet it has already soared to the top spot on the most-viewed films chart.
The poignant narrative centres on a bereaved young woman named Jill (portrayed by Zoey Deutch), who processes the unexpected death of her sister Isabelle by recording voicemails on her mobile.
However, she remains unaware that Isabelle’s number has been reassigned to an unknown man called Wes (Nick Robinson), who gradually develops feelings for Jill.
Many viewers have devoured the film over recent days, prompting them to seek their next viewing fix. Fortune favours them because Netflix is also streaming Set it Up, another Deutch romantic comedy with even better reviews, reports the Mirror.

While Voicemails for Isabelle holds an impressive 84% Rotten Tomatoes rating, Set it Up secured an exceptional 92% critics’ score. The story tracks another unexpected romance between exhausted assistants Harper (Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell).
Following harsh workplace conditions, the pair collaborate on a scheme to soften their employers’ demeanour. They discreetly orchestrate a romance between their managers Kristen (Lucy Liu) and Rick (Taye Diggs), anticipating it will improve their professional circumstances.
Yet, the ‘set up’ ignites an unforeseen chemistry between them. Despite featuring well-known faces, this comedy may have slipped under the radar for many viewers.
However, those who discovered it upon its 2018 release were utterly charmed.
One devoted fan took to IMDb to declare: “Nah bc this is the best romcom in the past 10 years. A completely underrated romcom with perfect casting and so much heart. It’s not as cheesy or cringey as the typical (especially Netflix original) rom com. They don’t make them like this anymore unfortunately.”
