Amanda Holden has sparked a wave of reactions after making a surprisingly candid comment about her marriage, with one co-star responding in disbelief during the conversation. The remark quickly divided viewers online, with some calling it hilarious while others criticized it as going too far, turning the lighthearted exchange into a talking point.

Amanda Holden sparked a response from her co-presenter Jamie Theakston and Heart Radio listeners this week following a candid revelation about her marriage. The 55-year-old frequently talks about her relationship on air, with many of her disclosures proving relatable to audiences. However, her most recent confession raised a few eyebrows.

According to the Britain’s Got Talent judge, she displays affection towards her husband Chris Hughes through kissing at least 10 times daily. During a discussion with Jamie live on their programme, she asked: “What do you believe the secret to a happy marriage is?”

As he struggled to provide an answer, Amanda read out research from a survey on the essential ingredients for a successful marriage. One of the findings indicated that kissing at least 10 times a week is important in a relationship.

Sharing her views, the presenter, who has been married to Chris since 2008, said: “Which I think is quite low in seven days, even by my standards and my husband, who nags me all the time, would say you do that in a day, 10 kisses, probably.”

Taken aback by her admission, Jamie responded: “You kiss your husband 10 times a day?”

“I would say so,” she said, prompting further astonishment from her co-presenter. “Even if I gave him a Glaswegian one,” she laughed. “Everyone in Scotland would know what that is. But yeah we do, we have a good old snog.” Still unconvinced, Jamie said he didn’t believe her, to which Amanda responded: “What do you mean? I think that’s the easiest thing to get out the way in a marriage.”

Revealing further results from the survey, Amanda noted that another key to a successful marriage was apparently saying ‘I love you’ at least nine times a week, having 10 deep and meaningful conversations each month, and going on a date at least three times a month.

Touching on the latter point, the presenter confessed she found it “utterly impossible” to accomplish given her hectic schedule while bringing up two daughters.

“Me and Chris, if we’re lucky, we might go out for dinner once a month on our own,” she added.

Turning to the recommendation of having meaningful conversations so regularly, she went on to say: “We definitely don’t have meaningful conversations, that’s up to nearly three a week!

“Ours are like, ‘What do you want for your tea? What are our plans for Sunday?’ That’s as deep and meaningful as it gets,” she laughed.

Later in the show, Amanda and Jamie read out responses from listeners on the subject, and not everybody was full of praise.

One listener claimed her 10-year-old son was so “disgusted” by Amanda’s admission while eating his breakfast that he left the room. “He called out ‘disgusting’ as he left,” the listener claimed.

Another told the Britain’s Got Talent judge that she had “too much time on her hands”, to which she said she hadn’t.
