Harriet Cowan revealed a telling moment where she believes Jeremy Clarkson displayed his genuine character while filming Clarkson’s Farm. The hugely popular Prime Video series made its return to screens earlier this month as Jeremy Clarkson embarked on year five of his agricultural venture.

Throughout the years, he’s received considerable assistance from specialists including vets, wildlife experts, and neighbouring farmers who’ve offered as much support and advice as possible. Harriet Cowan became part of the Clarkson’s Farm crew to temporarily step in for farm manager, Kaleb Cooper, during his absence on a speaking tour.

The former community nurse from Derbyshire swiftly captured viewers’ hearts with her knowledge, sharp humour, and straightforward approach.

She discussed her farming experience in greater detail, particularly working alongside Jeremy Clarkson, on the Fed By Farmers Podcast with Cammy Wilson and Iona.

She revealed that the opportunity arose when Charlie Ireland contacted local farmers in the surrounding area to enquire whether they knew anyone who could assist Jeremy during Kaleb’s absence.

She mentioned that it appeared the production team were seeking a woman to feature on the programme, and she accepted an 11-week role.

The podcast hosts discussed Jeremy’s blunt and forthright manner on the show with Harriet, who then shared insights into Jeremy’s authentic nature with listeners. She said: “He’s marmite isn’t he. I love that guy, I think he just doesn’t care which is great. He was like a father figure to me when I was there, he was really lovely.”

Women in farming and Jeremy Clarkson’s impact on inclusivity

She went on to discuss how inclusivity for women within the farming community is “better than it ever has been”, attributing much of that progress to the influence of Clarkson’s Farm.

She continued: “It’s a lot better than it ever has been. I think there’s certain things certain places certain people that they aren’t happy with it, and I think before like Clarkson’s people would be like she don’t have a clue.

“I don’t know if I’m the wrong person to comment on it because obviously people know what I can do off of the show. In one way that’s really good and then in another way, there’s like they’ve got a preconceived idea of what you’re gonna be like.”

Clarkson’s Farm made its return to Prime Video this month, with Jeremy revealing in the final two episodes that he had received a prostate cancer diagnosis and would be facing an operation and subsequent treatment.

The 66 year old broadcaster told both Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland that he had known about his condition for some time, having already undergone a biopsy.

The deeply upsetting revelation left his colleagues visibly shaken, and was further compounded by yet another distressing turn of events in the programme’s closing moments.
