The 1% Club returned to ITV with a fresh group of contestants hoping to take home the staggering cash prize. Throughout the episode, host Lee Mack quizzed 100 hopefuls on their logic and reasoning skills to see if they had what it takes to make it to the final round. During Saturday’s (November 1) episode, only five players made it to the finals, and each person decided to play on for a chance of winning a share of the £98,000 jackpot.
However, as Lee read out the questions, viewers took to social media to share their confusion. As the question appeared on screen, the host asked: “If you are careful to dot all the small Is and cross all the small Ts, how many crosses on the small Ts and dots on the small Is are there in this particular sentence?” Unlike those watching at home, would you have been able to work it out?
The question proved to be a challenging one, as even the contestants were stumped and provided guesses varying from nine to 14.
As Lee announced the correct answer was 14, it was revealed that only one out of the five final contestants got it right.
After proving himself as the 1% Club winner, Lewis Thomas from Port Talbot, Wales, walked away with the total £98,000 cash prize. Taking to social media, at the time, one fan admitted: “I just guessed 7, didn’t have time otherwise. They all count, though.”
“I did a lot better this week, but got 5 for that one. Time the enemy, all part of the game, really good episode,” another added.
As a third penned: “Closest I’ve come to a full house yet … Really struggle to see some of them at times.”

Meanwhile, a fourth remarked: “Oh, that’s rather unfortunate. No joy for the finalists & that choice to go for the big money has ended in defeat.” As another wrote: “I got the 1% question. Give me the money!”
This comes after a previous episode saw viewers taken aback after a single question wiped out a staggering 21 contestants, with one fan labelling the round a “massacre”.
The contestants were asked: “What replaces the question mark in this sentence?” As the sequence of words appeared on screen, it read: “Hot, hard, small, cold, easy.”
This prompted Lee to explain that competitors needed to determine what followed from the options “Big”, “fast” and “slow,” before revealing that the correct answer was in fact “big.”
