Celine Dion Shares Loving Tribute to Viral Influencer Dog Tika the Iggy After Death at Age 14

Céline Dion is paying her respects to a beloved, internet-famous pup.

In a post shared to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Nov. 5, the musician, 57, opened up about the death of Tika the Iggy, an Italian Greyhound who grew popular online for posing in a slew of adorably fashionable doggy outfits — including some that paid tribute to Dion.

“In loving memory of Tika the Iggy,” she wrote, alongside four photos of the dog posing in gowns, headdresses — some of which were recreations of Dion’s real outfits — as well as alongside a box full of promotional materials for Dion’s 2024 documentary, I Am: Céline Dion.“

Tika’s owners announced on Monday that she had died at age 14 in a statement posted jointly to the dog’s official Instagram account and one of the owners’ personal Instagrams.

Thomas Shapiro, one of Tika’s owners, alongside his husband Louis, announced the death of the internet-famous hound in his Nov. 4 post, beginning the statement with, “Tika, I really thought you were going to live forever. I thought we had more time, but there are things we cannot control. Our hearts are shattered.”

According to Tika’s Instagram page, she had been called “a new fashion It girl” by Vogue and “The Anna Wintour of Dogs” by popular TikTok creator, The Dogist.

Tika’s owners have shown lots of support for Dion over the years. In 2024, the greyhound walked the pink carpet at the premiere of I Am Céline Dion.

“What an [honor ]to attend the premiere of @celinedion’s new documentary,” her owners captioned a sweet video of Tika in a pink dress. “Thank you team @celinedion and @primevideo for having us.”

In a TikTok video shared around the same time, Tika’s owners dubbed her “Céline Dion’s biggest fan.”

“I am also her tiniest,” a voiceover in the video joked. “Not only is Céline an amazing performer, but she is my forever fashion inspiration.”

Just last week, Tika’s owners also celebrated Halloween by dressing her up as various pop stars and “divas” — including Dion, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton and RuPaul. The sweet video showed Tika in a silver gown and matching headdress — seemingly recreating a look worn by the “My Heart Will Go On” singer at the Met Gala in 2019.

Many members of the online pets community, including the viral account We Rate Dogs, also took to social media to share their reaction to the news.

“Our team is devastated over here. thank you for sharing her with the world  rest easy Tika,” We Rate Dogs wrote.

The Instagram account for viral internet pug, Doug the Pug, also wrote in, saying that they were “beyond sorry” and that they were “crying tears with [you].”
